Office chairs are readily replaced with the comfort of a couch. Better late than never, most organizations have understood that extreme situations aren’t only for remote work. Employees can have it even when the world is perfectly fine.

It’s because working from home may benefit employees and organizations alike. A company may refrain from providing WFH to its employees due to productivity issues. But, a proper mechanism of checks and balances can keep the employees on track.

Besides productivity issues, is there anything organizations and employees have to be vigilant about?

It’d be an ideal situation if that was the sole problem in remote work. Working remotely, a grave danger always looms over remoter worker’s heads. They may have vital data that trojans and keyloggers may be eyeing. And without a proper office setting where IT specialists may take time to resolve the issue, things can go south in the blink of an eye.

But you’ll be fine as long as you’re following the tips we’re going to provide in this article. With these tips, the only worry you have will be about completing your targets as bugs and viruses, powerful enough to destroy your systems won’t be a trouble anymore.

Without further ado, let’s get started.

    Secure Your Connection

    Firewall Security

    Turn On the Device’s Updates

    Bottom Line

    Secure Your Connection:

We know what a virtual private network or VPN is capable of, right? Whenever there’s a site we want to access, but can’t because it’s blocked, VPN guides us the way.

When enabled, a VPN establishes a strong connection between our devices and their servers. Whatever data we send or receive, a VPN camouflages it from malicious actors on the internet and creates device-to-server encryption, acting as a security layer to protect our data. A VPN also provides us with a proxy IP address, helping us to be transparent in front of hackers, waiting for their chance to attack and steal the data.

    Especially for remote workers, can be carefree of any threat that may be preying on them with a quality VPN. As for bugs, viruses, and malware navigating their way to your system, it’s out of bounds for a VPN. However, there’s nothing to worry about as we’ll discuss it in the next part, that is;

    Firewall Security:

Think of firewall security as a guard, standing right outside your home. It has to monitor everything that comes in or goes out. If finding anything suspicious, a good firewall would stop anything in its track. As for the subpar ones, you may find them dozing most of the time.

Where a VPN fails to counter spiteful bugs and viruses, a quality firewall security helps detect and root them out. Although your device may have an in-built firewall, it’s an internet connection that’s the first line of defense. A top internet connection with a multi-layer firewall like Xfinity is recommended, chiefly for remote workers.

For remote workers, they may not find a better alternative than Xfinity.

    Why?

Firstly, remote workers require a stable internet connection that Xfinity provides. Secondly, they may need a VPN, that can get with Xfinity. In collaboration with Norton Security Online, Xfinity provides free VPN to its users. Lastly, remote workers may need to work on the go. Instead of using public Wi-Fi, Xfinity is providing millions of free hotspot zones secured by WPA 2 encryption. You can connect to Xfinity’s customer support via numero de Xfinity to know more about Xfinity’s plans and packages.

    Turn On the Device’s Updates:

We may think of frequent security updates as a nuisance. However, these updates are unsung heroes, bridging the loopholes that hackers may try to exploit.

Whenever there’s a security update on our device, it is upgraded for fixes that were lacking in the previous update. Plus, security patches may be added too, increasing the efficiency of our devices to ward off any threats.

On the other hand, lingering on security updates may expose us to severe threats. As soon as updates are released, hackers may get to work to find the loopholes in them. With time, they may find a way to make an entry into our systems. However, frequent security updates fill the loopholes, wasting all the time and effort of hackers spent to find them. This phenomenon moves in circles and may not end. So, to be on the safe side, it’s best to update your device as soon as it gets one.

    Bottom Line:

Cyber security threats are as real as a sun on a clear day. Plus, cyber hackers may not stop, considering how negligent most remote workers are. So, to corner them, make sure to follow these tips, and not let them do as they will.
